The Doctors

Dr. Andrew Swiatowicz
DDS, FAGD​

Dr. Andrew Swiatowicz, DDS, FAGD

A native of upstate New York, Dr. Andrew Swiatowicz ended up in the First State for his undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware. After earning a B.A. in Biological Sciences, Dr. Andy went on to receive his DDS from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery — the first dental school in the world. He then completed a General Practice Residency at Christiana Care Health Systems.

Dr. Andy is a general family dentist with a focus in occlusal therapy, implants, and full mouth rehabilitation. He is also known for his work with special needs patients, including patients with intellectual disabilities, the medically compromised, and the severely dental phobic. He is one of the only dentists in Delaware credentialed to provide care to patients under general anesthesia, which allows him the opportunity to treat this often underserved population in the operating room.

Dr. Andy has a second practice dedicated solely to treating sleep-related breathing disorders (like sleep apnea) and orofacial pain. Delaware Dental Sleep Medicine was the first practice in Delaware that focused on treating these issues. Dr. Andy was also the first dentist in the state to receive recognition by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine as an expert in the field.

Dr. Swiatowicz is a member of many local and national professional organizations and is dedicated to continuing education so that he may provide the best that dentistry has to offer for our patients. He also lectures to other dental professions all over the country on the topics of dental sleep medicine. Recently he has become a visiting faculty member for the Pankey Institute, the only non-profit dental continuing education.

Dr. Khushbu Patel was born and raised in northern New Jersey — land of the best pizza and bagels! After high school, she hopped on over to the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a B.S. in neuroscience, and eventually her Doctorate of Dental Medicine. After seven years of living in Pittsburgh, Dr. Patel moved to the First State and completed a General Practice Residency at ChristianaCare Health Systems in Delaware.

When she is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Patel is likely on the dance floor – she has been dancing since the young age of four and can always be caught busting a move. She also enjoys travelling, hiking, and spending time with her family and friends. Despite being a New Jersey native, Dr. Patel is an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and can be seen cheering for them enthusiastically on game days.

Dr. Patel is passionate about providing person-centered, comprehensive dental care to her patients. She is dedicated to continuing her education in the field so that she can offer her patients a diversity of treatment options to achieve their dental goals. With her warm, friendly, and positive demeanor, Dr. Patel is a perfect fit to our dental team! We can’t wait for you to meet her!
